Graphics
Ladbrokes’ graphics are ok. but far from the best. The table design is a little primitive. and there are no avatars – meaning the tables look very monotonous. with each seat indistinguishable from the others. However. on the plus side the table design is very simple and clear. meaning the action is easy to follow.
Playability
Table
Playability at Ladbrokes is very good. First off you can chose from three different table sizes. a brilliant option that many sites don’t offer. On the large view there is a big game play window in which all player actions are displayed – every bet. fold and check – allowing you to keep track of past play. This is very useful – some site merely display the winning pot. Another very nice feature of Ladbrokes. at least for the more traditional players. is that hands are not always flipped over in all-in situations (which they shouldn’t be). The game play is modelled exactly on the rules of live game play. However. on the down side the pre-select buttons are a little small. and hand history is only available by HTML page (although with the detailed game play window it is not really necessary). It is possible to make player notes. and there is also a player stats section.
Lobby
Ladbrokes’s lobby is ok; it is relatively easy to use although in some ways a little primitive. Certainly compared to some other sites it looks a bit dated. but then it works fine. which is all that really matters. Players per flop and average pot stats are clearly displayed.
Player Numbers
Ring
Ladbrokes is the busiest poker room in Europe. and considering there is a ban on American players. the traffic is very high. It is particularly good for big game players. as the $10-$20 NL tables are always full.
Tournament
Ladbrokes tournaments are also very busy. and the great range of tournaments on offer means there are always plenty of players about.
Game Variety
Texas Holdem. Omaha. Omaha Hi/Lo. 7 card stud and 5 card stud. This is about the standard game variety for online poker rooms. but where Ladbrokes differs to most other sites is that its non-Hold’em games are actually quite busy. In particular there are often more Omaha games than you would expect.
Rake
The rake at Ladbrokes is roughly the industry average. although in lower limit games the rake is capped at $1.5 whereas most sites cap it at $1. Tournament rake is the standard – 20 percent at $5 buy-in and 10 percent for all the rest.
Special Tournaments
Ladbrokes has a terrific range of tournaments on offer. including the flagship Ladbrokes Poker Million. which is televised in the later stages. satellites to the WSOP. and countless guaranteed pot tournaments. There is also the annual Ladbrokes Poker Cruise. and qualifiers to other live tournaments around Europe.
