WSOP Championship Event: Day One (B)
One down, three to go – and that’s just Day One of the 2006 World Series of Poker. For Day One B we saw another 2000+ players hit the fabled felt of the WSOP meaning we are well on our way to seeing a total field of around 9000 and a first prize of almost $12 million.

WSOP Roundup: The 2006 WSOP winners list
Well the main event has started now, with a mammth 2138 players hitting the Rio on day one. That means a minimum 8400 in total. But before we concentrate on that there have been a few other notable winners since my last post, so here they are, in full.

WSOP Update: Mats Rahmn wins $655,141 in Event #27
The $1500 NL Hold’em event had one of the biggest fields of the 2006 WSOP. After a few events with almost worryingly low turnouts (only 350+!) it was reassuring to see over 2000 players pile into the Rio for the start of Event #27.

WSOP Update: The Dragon wins 3rd WSOP bracelet
The $2000 NL Hold’em Shootout is one of the most exciting events at the World Series of Poker. With a format unlike any other used in mainstream American poker programs, the shootout is a throwback to the days of Late Night Poker, and it is a joy to watch.

WSOP Update: Event #23 Limit Hold’em
The past few events have suffered a little from the fallout of the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E tournament. Perhaps it was inevitable that they might seem a little insignificant in comparison, and that the big stars, exhausted from the marathon Day Two of that event, might stay clear.

2007 WSOP: Events 27 – 29
We’ve now passed the half-way line in this year’s WSOP and some of the most exciting events are almost upon us, such as the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E Championship, and tomorrow’s much anticipated $5,000 Heads-UP NL Hold’em Championship.

2007 WSOP: Events 21 to 26
With 26 events accounted for the 2007 WSOP is almost at the half way stage. Although numbers have dwindled slightly down from the record breaking Event #3 the Rio is still buzzing, and a number of events have topped the 1,500 mark since.

2007 WSOP: Events #17 - #21
The WSOP continues to roll on, with almost three events finishing every day now, and as we get further into proceedings the pro players seem to be making the final tables with regularity.
