Bluff in the Buff – World record strip poker tournament
The largest strip poker tournament in history came to a conclusion over the weekend with a victory for John Young from Slough. With just a towel to cover his modesty John celebrated the win and pledged the money to charity.
With officials from the Guinness book of records present to keep tabs on numbers the tournament, which started as an April fools gag earlier this year, clocked up an impressive 195 entrants from 12 different countries.
After starting life as an April fools joke the tournament’s organisers received such interest in the idea they decided to go ahead with it. Players were given 5 items of clothing which they were allowed to exchange for chips. Thereafter they were able to cash in their own clothes for more chips.
Although the majority of players were men (much to their disappointment no doubt) there were a number of ladies present and they participation was rapturously greeted by all. The last lady to exit, Laura Bennett form Stirling in Scotland, received a standing ovation upon her elimination.
Speaking about his victory John Young said: “It was quite hard to bluff in the buff but luckily I kept my pocket aces hidden away! This was easily the most fun I’ve had at a poker table.”
He also pledged the £10,000 first prize to Cancer research.

2007 WSOP: Events 27 – 29
We’ve now passed the half-way line in this year’s WSOP and some of the most exciting events are almost upon us, such as the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E Championship, and tomorrow’s much anticipated $5,000 Heads-UP NL Hold’em Championship.

2007 WSOP: Events 21 to 26
With 26 events accounted for the 2007 WSOP is almost at the half way stage. Although numbers have dwindled slightly down from the record breaking Event #3 the Rio is still buzzing, and a number of events have topped the 1,500 mark since.

2007 WSOP: Events #17 - #21
The WSOP continues to roll on, with almost three events finishing every day now, and as we get further into proceedings the pro players seem to be making the final tables with regularity.
