Season III of EPT under way with Barcelona Open
After a long hiatus for the World Cup and the WSOP the EPT is back in action again, with Season III promising to be the biggest and best since the tour began.

The Barcelona Open kicked off yesterday with a record (and sell out) 480 runners paying the €5000 entry fee, half of whom took their seats for the first Day One of the event (the other 240 will play today). As the EPT’s profile continues to rise so does the quality of the entrants, and this event is a case in point, with countless household poker names making up the numbers.

Of the many rich and famous in attendance at the Casino Barcelona the biggest draw was 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem, who made it safely through to Day Two. He will be joined on Day Two by Gus Hansen (who recently won the European Poker Masters in London), Phil Ivey, the 2005 Barcelona Open champion Jan Boubli, Isabelle Mercier, Humberto Brenes, Noeh Boeken and Patrik Bruel. In total 84 players survived Day One.

Keep watching this space to see how the action develops.
