BetOnSports makes deal with U.S government
BetOnSports, the UK-based online gambling company whose ex-CEO David Carruthers was arrested in Dallas-Fort Worth airport in July this year, have settled on a deal with the US government that will see the dropping of the expensive civil suit brought by the authorities.

In exchange for the civil suit being discarded BetOnSports have had to agree to permanently cease all US gambling operations (something they have already done), return all money in American accounts and, most importantly, provide absolute co-operation with the US government’s investigation into illegal internet gambling.

BetOnSports has been given seven days to provide federal investigators with financial documents and company records. They must also provide a toll-free number to help American punters trying to withdraw their money from their site, and they have been told to place a conspicuous warning on the site to remind US players of the laws regarding online gambling.

Prior to the arrest of the then CEO David Carruthers BetOnSports was one of the world’s leading online gambling companies, taking in over $1 billion from the US alone.

While the current deal with the US government brings an end to the civil action there is still a criminal case pending against the company.
