Bond villain proves his poker credentials
The latest (and some say best) James Bond film was released recently in the UK to general acclaim, and featured a huge dose of No Limit Texas Hold’em. The critics opinion of the poker scene in Bond was that despite the ridiculously improbably hands, the acting was superb. Well now we know why.

Mads Mikkelsen, the actor who played the Bond villain “Le Chiffre” in Casino Royale, took part in a real life poker tournament in his native Denmark last week and walked away with the top prize. So either he learnt something during the filming of Bond, or the poker scene came real easy to him.

As Le Chiffre in the James Bond film Mikkelsen proved more than a match for the famous British secret agent on the poker table, losing only when Bond hit an improbable straight flush in the final hand.

But this time there was no straight flush to deny Mikkelsen the win, and he took the BET24 title with pocket jacks, the same hand with which he trounced Bond in an early encounter in the make-believe poker tournament, when he hit quad jacks to beat Bond’s aces full of kings! Another probable hand eh!
