NETeller founders to appear in court in February
NETeller’s Canadian founders John Lefebvre and Stephen Lawrence, arrested by US authorities last week, have had a preliminary court hearing set for next month. They will face the government’s charge that they laundered some billions of dollars in offshore gambling profits.
The two men, who were also executive directors of NETeller until October 2006, were released on a $5 million bail but were told they must remain in New York. They will have their bail terms reviewed later this week.
Both men are facing charges of conspiring to promote illegal gambling by processing financial transactions from US customers to online gambling companies.
If convicted they could face up to 20 years in jail.
