WPT Borgata Classic: John Gale makes final table
World Poker Tour events have been coming thick and fast at the end of this month, and just five days after Bryan Sumner won the World Poker Open in Tunica we are already looking forward to a final table from the WPT Borgata.

As in Tunica, here in Borgata a former WPT winner is in the running for another WPT title, with the UK’s John Gale, winner of the 2005 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, lying second in the chip counts going into the final table.

This year’s Borgata Classic was vast, with a massive 571 people paying the $9,700 buy-in, helping to build a $5.5 million prize pool, which is nearly double that of the recent Tunica event.

Leading the pack in the chase for the $1.6 million first prize is Joe Simmons, a Philadelphia native who is guaranteed to at least triple his lifetime career earnings at tomorrow’s final table. He starts with $5.5 million in chips.

Close behind Simmons is Gale, who, with a WPT title and a 2006 WSOP bracelet to his name is possibly the title favourite, though history tells us that the WPT has no respect for favourites. And with the always unpredictable John Hennigan lying in third place no-one will feel comfortable of their position at the table.

The final table starts tomorrow at 5pm EST

The chip counts are as follows:

Joe Simmons - $5,500,000
John Gale - $4,830,000
John Hennigan - $3,255,000
Chuck Kelley - $1,610,000
Michael Sukonik - $1,305,000
John James - $535,000

The payout is as follows:

1st - $1,606,223
2nd - $849,082
3rd - $443,096
4th - $387,709
5th - $332,322
6th – 276,935
