Jamie Gold given lesson on High Stakes Poker
So is Jamie Gold, the 2006 World Series of Poker Champion, really the best poker player in the world, or did he just get lucky in winning the biggest tournament in the history of poker?
Well in truth the answer is probably neither, but if you want to take a closer look you could do worse than watching the new series of High Stakes Poker currently showing on GSN.
Resourceful people without access to GSN will find there are plenty of other ways to watch this most interesting of poker shows, YouTube being the most obvious example.
This is the third season of HSP, and alongside the old favourites Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow, Jen Harman, Barry Greenstein and co, are a bunch of new boys headed by the 2006 WSOP Champ.
It is a case of mixed fortunes for the newcomers, with Jamie Gold and Victor Ramdin finding the field particularly tough. Also present is Paul Wasicka, runner-up to Gold in the WSOP, William Chen, who won two gold bracelets in 2006, Brain Townsend, a top online player who goes by the name of SBRugby, Patrik Antonius and Phil Ivey among others. This season also features a cameo performance at the table by commentator Gabe Kaplan.
