Peter Feldman wins second WSOPC ring
Peter Feldman became only player besides Chris “Jesus” Ferguson to own two World Series of Poker Circuit rings yesterday when he took down the WSOPC event in Harrah’s Rincon casino in San Diego.
“Nordberg” as he is known online, won his first WSOPC ring in May last year, defeating top Canadian pro Gavin Smith heads-up in New Orleans. And it was a case of Déjà vu for Smith in San Diego as Feldman vanquished him once again, making quad sevens to eliminate Smith in seventh place. Feldman played a solid game throughout this tournament, and arrived on the final table with a decent chip lead, which he used with careful consideration, never putting his tournament life at risk, but continually building his stack all the same. Even so, despite his excellent play, when the heads-up stage was reached his opponent Davidson Matthew had almost as many chips, and the two players remained on an even keel right up until the final hand. On a flop showing As-Kd-Ts Matthews moved all-in, setting Feldman to a decision for almost his entire chip stack. Feldman went into the tank, and then made the call, showing A-K for top two pair; Matthews, with A-4 was in need of a miracle. Only running fours, running tens or a queen and a jack could save him. But the miracle never materialised, and Feldman was a WSOPC champion for a second time. The payouts were as follows: 1st Peter Feldman $280,859 2nd Davidson Matthew $147,364 3rd Gavin Griffin $86,685 4th Danny Wong $69,348 5th Erik Cajelais $52,011 6th Shane Schleger $43,343 7th Gavin Smith $34,673 8th Yoon Kim $26,005 9th Jerry Renfroe $17,337
