Graphics
PokerStars is world famous for the variety and quality of its online tournaments. It runs the best online tournaments about. with more qualifiers to live competitions like the WPT and the WSOP than any other site. Playability
Table
VC has excellent software with all the usual features like hand history. play statistics. player notes and so forth easily accessible on-table. There are also other nice touches. like a display in the bottom right corner of the window reminding you of your most recently folded cards ? to satisfy those Alzheimer moments we all have when we forget what we folded and wonder what would have happened we?d stayed in! Another nice feature is that the chat applet and dealer summary window appears as a separate screen. which you can move or close ? very user friendly. There is also a button for accessing support on table on the table ? saving you from having to go to the lobby.
Lobby
The lobby is very good. although like some other sites Victor Chandler has failed to separate the Texas Hold?em ring games. so no-limit. fixed-limit. pot-limit and micro-limit games are all mixed up which makes searching for games a little tedious. Apart from that the lobby is nicely designed and easy to use.
Player Numbers
Ring
Victor Chandler does not the traffic of the really big poker rooms such as PartyPoker. PokerStars or PokerRoom. but. that said. it is still a very popular site and you will rarely. if ever. find yourself waiting for a game. Player numbers peak at around 2000.
Tournament
VC?s tournament traffic is a little better than its ring game traffic. meaning there are always plenty of games on hand.
Game Variety
Texas Hold?em. Omaha High. Omaha High/Low and Badugi. The obvious games missing from the list are stud and draw poker but the small number of games offered means quality. variety and player numbers are concentrated on those offered. For example VC offers micro-limit games with tournaments buy-ins starting at $0.10 and ring games as low as $0.02/$0.04 ? great for beginners. while for the big money players the limit goes as high as $150-$300.
Rake
Industry average. On low limit tables there is a $1 cap on the rake. On higher tables the cap is $3.
Special Tournaments
There are quite a few free rolls at VC. though for most of them you must use Action Points to enter. so they can?t count as true free rolls. There are a lot of guaranteed pot tournaments. and a few. but not many. qualifiers to live events.
