Graphics
William Hill is part of the Cryptologic network and like other Cryptologic poker rooms it has fairly basic table graphics. As with all Cryptologic sites there are no avatars. so the tables look a little monotonous and the overall impression is not of the highest quality. That said. a lot of players seem to like the simplicity of the design.
Playability
Table
Cryptologic software is not the best on the Internet and there are some very tedious problems. In particular the gameplay/chat window is a complete nightmare. Due to a design flaw the window is on a continuous scroll. making it impossible to look back at previous actions or comments – if you want to know who won the last hand. or how much so and so bet on the flop two hands ago forget it! It ain’t gonna happen! Cryptologic however have insisted they are working on the problem. On a positive note the hand history display is very good; it appears in a separate window and is comprehensive.
Lobby
William Hill’s lobby is ok. It is very clearly laid out and features important information such as players per flop percentages and average pot size for each table. It could be improved by listing no-limit and fixed limit games on separate tabs but otherwise it is fine.
Player Numbers
Ring
William Hill shares its player base with all other members of the Cryptologic network such as InterPoker and Betfair. which means there are always plenty of games available. And despite games being split between dollars. pounds sterling and euros there are always loads of games and players across the board. Real-money ring game player numbers often peak at over 2500.
Tournament
Tournaments are even busier on William Hill. with in excess of 5000 real-money players active during peak times.
Game Variety
Cryptologic’s game variety is about the industry standard. with Texas Hold’em. Omaha Hi. Omaha Hi/Lo. 7 Card Stud and Heads-Up (in Hold’em). All games are available in all three currencies.
Rake
William Hill’s rake as a percentage is the industry standard. i.e.: 5 percent on any pot over £5/$5/€5 up to a max of £3/$3/€3. However you should be aware that due to the currency differences this means the rake on pounds sterling and euro tables is higher than on the dollar tables. with the £3 maximum rake equivalent to $5.2.
